mitt the mormon
i think paul will especially like this article about his favorite person ever.
good article bruder. they took their jabs...but for the most part they were pretty reasonable. i enjoyed hearing about his mission etc.
there was an interesting dynamic where they attributed official church policy and teachings to romney as his own personal belief. it may be true, but it certainly isn't supported by any hard evidence.
you would be hard-pressed to find a respectable journalist that would have attributed the pope's positions to JFK by the fact that he was a catholic...
aside from that. the black issue is a big sore thumb and problem for the church in the public eye. their positions had little difference with the rest of christianity for the time period...but we held on to the incorrect beliefs for too long. the article certainly capitalizes on the black issue as a difference for mormonism from other sects.
however, on NPR this morning, kathleen flake made the point that while we came to the equality table late, the transformation was dramatic when we did as result of the church's practice of adhering closely to official revelations...
and he's not my favorite person and i can't say i've heard him enough to say i would trust him...just that i've heard a lot from him that i like and i would like for him to have a fair shot.
stevey. good read. i like that they basically just told story and didnt' try to conjecture how this experience or that would mean he would do this or that as president. i find those to be annoying.

although, i'm still concerned that mormon doctrine lines the walls of deseret book...even in its current state.

Go Mitt! And, thank you, Stephen, for letting us see that the NYT does know who Mitt Romney is!
stevey.
